Incisions - Insights on site: Individualised surgery: sensor technology | robotics | AI

On 26 June, the popular event series "Incisions - Insights" was once again held on site at the Clinical Anatomy Department in Tübingen - a day full of exciting insights and medical technology innovations. We have captured some of the highlights for you here.

2024 marks the 14th time we have organised this format. As every year, the focus was on clarifying the medical needs and challenges faced by doctors in the operating theatre and asking the right questions for medical technology developers.

At Incisions - Insights, the participants - medical technicians and engineers - are in direct dialogue with medical professionals and can discuss new ideas for instruments or methods.

For example, there is a particular medical need in the field of prostate surgery, as tumours grow very diffusely here, in contrast to the kidney, and doctors are guided by organ boundaries and not tumour boundaries, as Prof. Dr Igor Tsaur explained in the expert panel. He would like to see "in-situ detection of tumour cells, as this means that no time is lost in the operating theatre."

Topics such as MDR were also addressed. In the panel discussion, Prof. Dr rer. nat. habil. Peter Pott, for example, spoke about the fact that we are setting a standard in Europe that is difficult to meet.

These and many other exciting topics were discussed. Below you will find a selection of pictures that capture the atmosphere and the many facets of the event.

We are already looking forward to the next event and hope to see you there too!
