Smart analytics: network meeting heralds the second phase
Since May 2020, the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has been promoting the development of the international cooperation network “smart analytics”. The aim of the network is the development of innovative analytical methods and applications in health care as well as in industry and research. On June 10th, 2021 around 15 representatives of the network for intelligent analytical methods, “smart analytics”, met for the first physical meeting after a year of project duration.
During a tour of the permanent exhibition "Tübingen Castle Laboratory - Cradle of Biochemistry" in the Museum of the University of Tübingen, the participants were given an insight into the historical significance of Tübingen biochemistry. The network partners then met at Hofgut Rosenau to find out about the current status of their projects.
Project leader Dr. Verena Grimm praised the creativity and hard work of those involved in the network who, based on six ideas, have now developed over 20 project ideas. In addition, three ZIM project proposals and two BMBF proposals have already been submitted. Which is very remarkable for the first network phase, in which the focus is more on building the network. The expansion of the international ZIM network is also going very well: “smart analytics” started a good year ago with initially 13 participants. After a year of intensive development, ten more companies and institutes were added, so that a total of 23 partners with their different competencies are now participating. The network has a good mix of small and medium-sized companies, research institutions and international companies from Italy, France and Austria. Project manager Nina Zabel would like to expand its international activities even further and implement at least one project for each partner.
The network covers a diverse range of methods and skills: in addition to bioanalysis and diagnostics, there are already providers of liquid and gas spectroscopy, hyperspectral analysis and data analysis, as well as prototype construction and logistics providers. In addition, the network has a good mix of small and medium-sized companies, research institutions and international companies from Italy, France and Austria. However, Grimm would like to expand its international activities even further and implement at least one project for each partner.
